150 HOUR CLASS DESCRIPTION, AS PER HAWAII STATE BOARD OF MASSAGE

150 HR. COURSE
AS PER HAWAII STATE BOARD OF MASSAGE
Be aware that some massage schools make students enroll for more than 150 hrs.  Don't
overpay for more hours than is required by the State of Hawaii.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
By State rules, 150 hours divided into:
100 hrs. of Hands on Demonstration
You will learn a full body massage routine using techniques that are world class quality.
I WILL NOT teach you how to wipe skin with forearms or elbows.  You will learn the meaning of each and every massage stroke that you apply, and why you apply these techniques.
You will NOT learn how to wipe skin over muscles,
....You WILL learn how to massage muscles under the skin
50 hrs. of Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology
Kinesiology- The study of human movement.  Learn what muscles contract with specific movements to confirm which muscles are in pain.  This will provide you with the therapeutic
knowledge of definate muscles are the target for your therapy.
Anatomy- Be aware, some schools teach anatomy NOT related to massage.  I will educate you  of anatomical systems that are directly related to your massage therapy practice:
Muscular, Skeletal, Circulatory, Nervous, Respiratory, and Digestive.
Physiology- I will teach you the functions of the above mentioned systems.  This will allow you to better understand how these systems work, and how they are directly related to massage therapy.

At the end of this 150 hr. course, you will have acquired incredible hands on skills and a vast amount of anatomical knowledge. The student will learn how to identify close to 40 muscles and will acquire great skills to apply specific massage techniques to these muscles.  The student will also  have the knowledge and confidence to perform a quality massage treatment whether for relaxation or therapeutic reasons.  Students will be taught how to identify, locate, and intricately grasp and manipulate specific muscles that are the problem.  When the low back is in pain, it is not the skin in this area that we treat, it is the underlying muscles which are in pain.  Unlike other massage schools, I will instruct you how to treat the muscles underneath, NOT wipe the superficial skin.
